About Us

JVB Wicoff Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that brings together parents, grandparents, guardians, and educators to support our children's learning and well-being. Our mission aligns with the State and National PTA, working to make every child’s potential a reality by advocating for their needs and creating a strong connection between home, school, and community.

Wicoff PTA offers families a space to share ideas, voice concerns, and learn more about what's happening at school. We organize events, fundraisers, and programs that directly benefit our students, families, and staff, while also playing a part in broader advocacy efforts. Membership helps us support the school and contribute to national programs like arts education and family-school partnerships.

The PTA plays a vital role in creating a strong, supportive school community. Research shows that schools with active PTAs often see higher achievement growth in students compared to schools without one. At Wicoff, the PTA is a collaborative effort between parents and teachers, working together to provide the best possible learning and enrichment opportunities for our children.

When you join the Wicoff PTA, you also become part of the New Jersey State and National PTA, both of which advocate for students at the local, state, and national levels. The National PTA, founded in 1897, has been instrumental in shaping key initiatives, like school lunch programs, that benefit students across the country. Your membership helps amplify our collective voice in these important efforts.

In addition to advocacy, the Wicoff PTA funds school events such as assemblies, bingo nights, and staff appreciation activities. As a member, you'll also have the opportunity to share your thoughts at PTA meetings with school administrators, ensuring that your voice is heard in shaping our school community.

Joining the PTA gives you an opportunity to actively support your child’s education and the Wicoff school community. As a member, you help fund important school programs and events, stay informed about what’s happening at the school, and have a voice in decisions that affect our children.

Anyone who is connected to a Wicoff student can join the PTA! Parents, grandparents, guardians, and teachers are all welcome to become members and contribute to the success of our school community.

Yes, there is a small membership fee that helps support the efforts of both the local Wicoff PTA and the state and national PTA. These dues help fund school programs, resources, and events, and also contribute to broader advocacy work for our students.

Being a PTA member means you support the organization through membership dues and are part of our collective voice advocating for students. Volunteering, on the other hand, is about donating your time to help with specific activities or events.

You can choose to do both or either—membership is not tied to volunteering!

No, you’re not required to attend every meeting. While we encourage members to join when they can, we understand that schedules are busy. You can still be a member and stay informed through meeting notes, newsletters, or emails.

You can volunteer by helping out with events, organizing fundraisers, or assisting with programs that directly support students. Whether you can offer a few hours occasionally or take on a bigger role, there are plenty of ways to contribute. We welcome everyone to get involved!
